Which Top Environmental Working Group Sunscreens Can Be Bought on Amazon?
The EWG publishes a list of their top rated sunscreens (score of 1 out of 10; 1 being the best, and 10 being the worst) which they consider to be the least likely to cause health problems (least likely to cause cancer or reproductive harm), and least likely to cause environmental damage. Generally the top picks have zinc oxide and sometimes titanium oxide as their active ingredients, as those are the safest broad spectrum sun blocking agents.
However, the EWG’s links are often outdated and broken, and it’s a time intensive task to find which of their recommendations are actually available on Amazon for purchase. Sometimes Amazon will have a similar product from the same manufacture, but it’s not the exact same one examined by the EWG, and thus it’s not know how it would be rated. I’ve gone through their list of products with a score of 1, i.e. their top rated, non-toxic, safest products, and found the ones actually on Amazon to be purchased. I’ll post the first 10 products below to save you some research time.

When you’re on the trail, or in the woods, the last thing you want is for your sunscreen to be inviting bugs on to your skin, to bite or annoy you. Of the top rated Environmental Working Group (EWG) sunscreens that are safest for you and the environment, there are unscented choices, optimal for hiking, camping, fishing, and other outdoor, woodsy, field and stream type uses. - Waxhead Sun Defense Baby Zinc Oxide Vitamin E + D Enriched Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 35 is made of just 6 organic (and theoretically edible) ingredients
- Badger SPF 40 Sport Mineral Sunscreen Cream, Reef Friendly, Unscented contains 98% organic ingredients but also has non-organic Vitamin E from sunflowers. It only has 5 total ingredients so pretty good nonetheless.
- 365 by Whole Foods Market, Sunscreen SPF 30 Lotion Sport Mineral contains 80% organic ingredients over 6 total ingredients; likely again it’s the Vitamin E and something else that’s non-organic.
- Earth Mama Tinted Mineral Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 40 has a USDA Organic certification.
Which Top EWG Sunscreen Has All Natural Ingredients?
A lot of these are also the same as the ones that have the organic ingredients:

- 365 by Whole Foods Market, Sunscreen SPF 30 Lotion Sport Mineral has six natural ingredients: sunflower oil, organic beeswax, organic jojoba seed oil, coconut oil, and zinc oxide
- TruBaby Water & Play SPF 30+ UVA/UVB Protection Sunscreen, Water Resistant Mineral Based Sun Body Cream for Baby, Unscented, Reef Friendly, All Natural Ingredients has multiple ingredients but the package lists which plant or tree each ingredient comes from.
