Update from Janurary 2023: Musch Trail Camp has reopened. See my updated camping news article.
Musch Trail Camp Closed
I was on site at the Musch Trail Camp at Topanga State Park on October 18th, 2022. The camp is still closed due to a waterline repair project happening at its bathroom facility.
This particular bathroom is a running water bathroom, and I’ve noted over the years that the toilets often take more than one flush to work properly. However it is not know if they are also tackling this issue alongside their waterline replacement.
A portable toilet has been installed on the side of the bathroom building. The fountain and water spigot near the horse coral area, across from Musch Trail Camp, are still operational.
As soon as the camp reopens, I will publish an update on this news page.
Updates are also available at the California State Parks Topanga SP page.
No Fires of Any Kind Order Posted On Musch Trail Trailhead
A sign stating ‘WARNING: Extreme fire hazard. No fires of any kind. Violators are subject to arrest. C.C.R. 4311,’ has been posted at the trailhead of Musch Trail.
Usually backpacking stoves are allowed at Musch Trail Camp. But while the camp is closed, likely the order has been placed to discourage even their unnecessary use.
Check out my Topnaga State Park page for more information on hiking and camping at the park.
